Misrata ( ; Arabic: مصراتة, romanized: Miṣrāta, Libyan Arabic:Məṣrāta; also spelled Misratah and known by the Italian spelling Misurata, is a city in northwestern Libya located in the Misrata District, situated 187 km (116 mi) to the east of Tripoli on the coast near Cape Misrata.
