Quadruplets

Quadruplets are much rarer than twins or triplets. One famous set of identical quadruplets was the Genain quadruplets, all of whom developed schizophrenia. Quadruplets are sometimes referred to as "quads". In July 2026, a woman gave birth to identical quadruplet daughters in Brisbane, Australia. In what was described as an extremely rare occurrence, the babies were conceived naturally, split from a singular fertilised egg, and all shared a single placenta. They were delivered by caesarean section at 28 weeks and four days gestation at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
