Ultrasonography of liver tumors allows for both detection and characterization. Ultrasound imaging studies are often obtained during the evaluation process of Fatty liver disease. Ultrasonography reveals a "bright" liver with increased echogenicity. Pocket-sized ultrasound devices might be used as point-of-care screening tools to diagnose liver steatosis.
