Streptococcaceae

Streptococcaceae is a family of Gram-positive bacteria in the order Lactobacillales. The family contains four genera with validly published and correct names: , Lactococcus, Lactovum, and Streptococcus. The family name is derived from its type genus, Streptococcus, whose name comes from the Ancient Greek words (streptós), meaning "twisted", and (kókkos), meaning "grain".
