Treatment methods
Physiatrists commonly treat patients afflicted with a disability or handicap. Such ailments may be due to old age, chronic illnesses, trauma, accidents, etc. Sometimes patients are referred to physiatrists because they have generalized weakness due to bed rest as a result of another disease. Spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, certain genetic diseases are other common cases that a physiatrist sees.
