Naumachia

A naumachia (in Latinnaumachia, from the Ancient Greekναυμαχία/naumachía, literally "naval combat") was a mock naval battle staged as mass entertainment by the Ancient Romans. The staging would typically occur in a specially-dug basin, also known as a naumachia.
