Microsensor

Extracted from the Wikipedia article Sensor.

Technological progress allows for sensors to be manufactured in bulk on a microscopic scale as microsensors using MEMS technology. In most cases, a microsensor reaches a significantly faster measurement time and higher sensitivity compared with macroscopic approaches. Demand has increased for disposable sensors for short‐term monitoring or single‐shot measurements, due to their low cost and simpiclity of use. Using this class of sensors, information can be obtained without the need for recalibration, and without potential contamination.
