Megasphaera

Megasphaera is a genus of Bacillotabacteria classified within the class Negativicutes. Several species in the genus, including M. elsdenii and M. hexanoica, are known to utilize lactate.

This classification has been reexamined. This genus appears to be a member of the Clostridia.
