At ⁠${\displaystyle \sin(\omega t)=-1}$⁠, the capacitor has a maximum (or peak) current whereby ⁠${\displaystyle I_{0}=\omega CV_{0}}$⁠. The ratio of peak voltage to peak current is due to capacitive reactance (denoted ⁠${\displaystyle X_{\mathrm {C} }}$⁠). $${\displaystyle X_{\mathrm {C} }={\frac {V_{0}}{I_{0}}}={\frac {V_{0}}{\omega CV_{0}}}={\frac {1}{\omega C}}}$$
