İttihadism

İttihadism

Ittihadism (Turkish: İttihatçılık, lit.'Unionism or Unificationism') was the ideology of the Committee of Union and Progress, which undertook the Young Turk Revolution in 1908 and ruled the Ottoman Empire from 1913 to 1918.

Ideologically, the CUP was far ahead of German elites in conspiracy theory, volkisch (exaltedly ethnic) nationalism, and demographic engineering. It pioneered a modern, right-wing revolution that blended ethnoreligious conflict with class struggle and a modernizing, anti-liberal, and anti-Western political agenda.
