Chilantaisaurus
Chilantaisaurus ("Jilantai Salt Lake lizard") is an extinct genus of large theropod dinosaur that lived in present-day China during the Late Cretaceous period. It was described by Chinese paleontologist Hu Show-Yung in 1964. The genus contains a single valid species, C. tashuikouensis, though several other species have been assigned to the genus. C. tashuikouensis is known from a single, incomplete postcranial skeleton, the holotype specimen.
Ulansuhai FormationThe Ulansuhai Formation (simplified Chinese: 乌兰苏海组; traditional Chinese: 烏蘭蘇海組; pinyin: Wūlánsūhǎi Zǔ) is a geological formation in Inner Mongolia, north China. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation. The Ulansuhai Formation has traditionally been considered to date to the Aptian-Albian stages of the Lower Cretaceous, due to similarities between the Ulansuhai fauna and known Aptian formations.
TheropodaTheropoda (; from ancient Greek θηρίο- ποδός [θηρίον, (therion) "wild beast"; πούς, ποδός (pous, podos) "foot"]) is one of the three major clades of dinosaurs, alongside Ornithischia and Sauropodomorpha. Theropods, both extant and extinct, are characterized by hollow bones and three toes and claws on each limb. They are generally classed as saurischian dinosaurs, placing them closer to sauropodomorphs than to ornithischians.

GenusGenus (; pl.: genera) is a taxonomic rank above species and below family as used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms as well as viruses. In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus. E.g. Panthera leo (lion) and Panthera onca (jaguar) are two species within the genus Panthera.

HolotypeA holotype is the single physical example (or illustration) of an organism that was used when the species (or lower-ranked taxon) was formally described. It may be the only such physical example (or illustration), or it may have been explicitly designated as the holotype from among several examples. Under the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), there are several kinds of name-bearing types, and a holotype is one of them.

SpeciesBasic unit of taxonomic classification, below genusThe hierarchy of biological classification's eight major taxonomic ranks. A genus contains one or more species. Minor intermediate ranks are not shown.A species (pl. species) is the basic unit of classification and a taxonomic rank of an organism, as well as a unit of biodiversity.
Species descriptionA species description is a formal scientific description of a newly encountered species, typically articulated through a scientific publication. Its purpose is to provide a clear description of a new species of organism and explain how it differs from species that have been previously described or related species. For a species to be considered valid, a species description must follow established guidelines and naming conventions dictated by relevant nomenclature codes.PostcraniumThe postcranium ("behind the cranium"; plural: postcrania) or postcranial skeleton in zoology and vertebrate paleontology is the skeleton apart from the skull. The postcranium encompasses the axial skeleton, which includes the entirety of the vertebrae and ribs, and the appendicular skeleton, which includes girdles and limbs. In paleontology, there may be disagreement over whether the skull and skeleton belong to the same or different animals.
