Oregon Ducks. He finished his collegiate career with 3,302 all-purpose yards (1,863 rushing, 392 receiving and 1,047 on kick returns) and 21 total touchdowns (18 rushing, two receiving and one kick return).

On November 23, 2020, Brooks-James was signed to the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster on November 28 for the team's week 12 game against the
Las Vegas Raiders, and reverted to the practice squad after the game. He signed a reserve/future contract on January 4, 2021. He was released on July 26, 2021.
Pittsburgh Steelers (second stint)
On August 3, 2021, Brooks-James was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was waived on August 28, 2021.
