(CASC), it is referred to as ''The Eighth Academy'' of CASC. The agency was established in August 1961 as ''Shanghai Second Bureau of Electromechanical Industry'', but was later renamed to ''Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology'' in 1993.
