Latin Grammy Award For Best Flamenco Album
The Latin Grammy Award for Best Flamenco Album is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and creates a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. According to the Latin Grammy Awards category description guide, the award was given, "For vocal or instrumental Flamenco albums containing at least 51% playing time of newly recorded material. For Solo artists, duos or groups." Since the inception of the category, only Spanish performing artists have received the award. Spanish musician Tomatito and Spanish singer Niña Pastori hold the record of most wins in the category with four wins each, followed by Paco de Lucía with three wins. Flamenco
Flamenco () is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain, developed within the Gitanos, gitano subculture of the region of Andalusia, and also having historical presence in Extremadura and Region of Murcia, Murcia. In a wider sense, the term is used to refer to a variety of both contemporary and traditional musical styles typical of southern Spain. Flamenco is closely associated to the gitanos of the Romani people, Romani ethnicity who have contributed significantly to its origination and professionalization. Estrella Morente
Estrella Morente (Estrella de la Aurora Morente Carbonell) is a Spanish flamenco singer. She was born on 14 August 1980 in Las Gabias, Granada in southern Spain. She is the daughter of flamenco singer Enrique Morente and dancer Aurora Carbonell. She has performed with her father since age seven and recorded her first album in 2001, ''Mi Cante Y Un Poema'' (My Songs and A Poem). José Mercé
José Mercé (born José Soto Soto in 1955 in Jerez de la Frontera) is a Spanish flamenco singer. As a 12-year-old he performed at flamenco festivals. María Teresa Martín Cadiemo (born 1965) is a Spanish singer. Early life Martín was born in 1965 in Barcelona, Spain. Her mother was from Catalonia, and her father was from Málaga, Andalusia. Vicente Amigo Girol (born 25 March 1967) is a Spanish flamenco composer and guitarist, born in Guadalcanal near Seville. He has played as an accompanying guitarist on recordings by flamenco singers Camarón de la Isla, and Luis de Córdoba, and he has acted as a producer for Remedios Amaya and José Mercé. The winners of the Second Annual Latin Grammy Awards were announced during a press conference on Tuesday, October 30, 2001, at the Conga Room in Los Angeles, California. Juan Peña Fernández (8 August 1941 – 13 July 2016), also known as Juan Peña "El Lebrijano" or simply El Lebrijano, was a Spanish Gitano (''Roma'') flamenco musician. Juan Habichuela (''né'' Juan Carmona Carmona; 193330 June 2016) was a Spanish flamenco guitarist who began his artistic life as a dancer, and later learned guitar from his father and from a guitarist from Granada known as Ovejilla.
