History

Greenmount was formerly known as Greenmount West, and prior to that as Emu Creek. It takes its present name from the property owned by Donald Mackintosh, a local farmer and Member of the

. The region was settled by graziers in the 1840s; farming activities remain the chief source of employment in Greenmount today. In 1879, the

Notable residents
