Delaneys Creek State Forest occupies the south east corner of the locality. Delaneys Creek and Monkeybong Creek both flow northwestwards into the Stanley River.

History

The locality takes its name from the creek of the same name, which was named after Joseph Delaney, who was either an early selector or fossicker. Delaneys Creek Provisional School opened on 5 September 1892 under teacher Miss Franz. In 1909, it became Delaneys Creek State School.
