Şerif Gören
Şerif Gören ( el, Σερίφ Γκιορέν, Seríf Gkiorén, born 1944 in Xanthi, Greece) is a Turkish film director. Aside from important movies under his own signature, he is also the winner of the Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") award in Cannes Film Festival in 1982 for the film '' Yol'', which he had directed on behalf of Yılmaz Güney, who at the time was serving a prison sentence for the murder of Yumurtalık judge Sefa Mutlu. Gören started his film career as an editor, and then continued as an assistant director to Yılmaz Güney. He and Güney started directing "''Endişe''" (The Anxiety) in 1974, in the beginning of which Güney was arrested and sent to prison. Gören continued directing Endişe, which makes Endişe as the first film directed mainly by him. Endişe was a successful movie which won six awards at the12th Antalya Film Festival in 1975 including Best National Film and Best National Director. He directed more than thirty films in a decade. Xanthi
Xanthi ( el, Ξάνθη, ''Xánthi'', ) is a city in the region of Western Thrace, northeastern Greece. It is the capital of the Xanthi (regional unit), Xanthi regional unit of the modern regions of Greece, region of East Macedonia and Thrace. Amphitheatrically built on the foot of Rhodope mountains, Rhodope mountain chain, the city is divided by the Kosynthos River, into the west part, where the old and the modern town are located, and the east part that boasts a rich natural environment. Atıf Yılmaz Batıbeki (9 December 1925 – 5 May 2006) was a renowned Turkey, Turkish film director, screenwriter, and film producer. He was very much a legend in the film industry of Turkey with 119 movies directed. He also wrote 53 screenplays and produced 28 movies since 1951. He was active in almost every period of the Turkish film industry. Early life Atıf Yılmaz was born on 9 December 1925 in Mersin, Turkey to a Kurdish people, Kurdish family originally from Palu, Turkey, Palu. After finishing high school in Mersin, he attended the Law School of Istanbul University.
