Thordis Brandt (born 1940) is a German-American actress. Personal life Thordis Brandt was born on September 7, 1940, in Germany of Norwegian and German parents. She moved to Canada as a young girl and was raised initially at a farm in St. Norbert, Manitoba, then moved to a mink ranch in Bella Coola, British Columbia, then to Vancouver in 1958. In 1963, Thordis graduated as a registered nurse from St. Paul's Hospital School of Nursing. She moved to Santa Monica, California, where she continued to practice her nursing in private duty. One of her jobs in private duty was serving actress Patricia Neal. Neal recommended Thordis to other actors and actresses and Thordis became known as the "actor's nurse". Thordis Elva Thorvaldsdottir ( is, Þórdís Elva Þorvaldsdóttir) is an Icelandic author, speaker, playwright and activist for gender equality. In 2017, she gained world-wide recognition for writing the book ''South of Forgiveness.'' She was voted Woman of the Year 2015 by the Federation of Icelandic Women's Societies in Reykjavík. She specialises in violence prevention and digital rights, and has helped shape national policy on online abuse as well as gender-based violence. Þórdís Gísladóttir, also Thordis Gisladottir, (born 14 July 1965) is an Icelanders, Icelandic children's book author, poet, novelist and a translator. She is known for her children's stories about Randalin and Mundi and her poetry has also been well received. Þórdís has worked as a project manager and university teacher at the University of Iceland and the Uppsala University in Sweden, been a web editor for the Nordic Council and she has translated 17 books and a play for the Reykjavik City Theater, edited a journal about children's literature, written about literature for the Norwegian newspaper Klassekampen and made radio programs for The Icelandic National Radio.
