Vairāgya
Vairāgya () is a Sanskrit term used in Hindu philosophy, Hindu as well as Eastern philosophy that roughly translates as dispassion, detachment, or renunciation, in particular renunciation from the pains and pleasures in the temporary material world. The Hindu philosophers who advocated vairāgya told their followers that it is a means to achieve moksha. True vairāgya refers to an internal state of mind rather than to external lifestyle and can be practiced equally well by one engaged in family life and career as it can be by a renunciate. Vairāgya does not mean suppression of or developing repulsion for material objects. Śatakatraya
The ''Śatakatraya'' (), (also known as , ) refers to three Indian collections of Sanskrit poetry, containing a hundred verses each. The three ''Satakam, śataka's'' are known as the , , and , and are attributed to Bhartṛhari c. 5th century CE. The three ''Śataka''s Indian scholar K. M. Joglekar in his translation work 'Bhartrihari: Niti and Vairagya Shatakas' says that, "The Shatakas were composed when Bhartrihari had renounced the world. It is not easy to say in what order they were written, from the subject matter of each of them, it is likely that Shringarashatak was written first, then followed the Niti and lastly the Vairagyashataka". The ''Nītiśataka'' deals with ''nīti'', roughly meaning ethics and morality. ''Śṛṅgāraśataka'' deals with love and women. ''Vairāgyaśataka'' contains verses on renunciation. Abhyasa
Abhyāsa, in Hinduism, is a spiritual practice which is regularly and constantly practised over a long period of time. It has been prescribed by the great sage Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras, and by Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita as an essential means to control the mind, together with Vairāgya. An abhyasi is a spiritual seeker in the esoteric mystical traditions of Asia, notably Indian subcontinent. The word ''abhyasi'' means "one who practises" in Sanskrit. Bhartṛhari
Bhartṛhari (Devanagari: ; Bhartrihari; fl. c. 5th century CE), was an Indian-Hindu linguistic philosopher and poet, known for his contributions to the fields of linguistics, grammar, and philosophy. He is believed to have been born in the 5th century in Ujjain, Malwa, India. He decided to live a monastic life and find a higher meaning but was unable to detach from worldly life. He lived as a yogi in Ujjain until his death. In Hellenistic philosophy, epoché (also epoche; pronounced or ; ) is suspension of judgment but also "withholding of assent". Pyrrhonism Epoché plays an important role in Pyrrhonism, the skeptical philosophy named after Pyrrho, who is regarded as the founder of ancient skepticism.
