The Knife
The Knife were a Swedish electronic music duo from Gothenburg, formed in 1999. The group consisted of siblings Karin and Olof Dreijer, who together also run their own record company, Rabid Records. They gained a large international following in response to their 2003 album '' Deep Cuts''. The duo's first tour took place in 2006, along with the release of their critically acclaimed album '' Silent Shout''. They have won a number of Swedish Grammis, but refused to attend award ceremonies. They have appeared in public wearing Venetian masks. As Fever Ray, Karin released their self-titled solo album in 2009, while Olof released several EPs as Oni Ayhun in late 2009 and early 2010. The Knife disbanded in November 2014 after releasing their acclaimed 2013 album '' Shaking the Habitual'' and completing its attendant tour. Fever Ray
Karin Elisabeth Dreijer (born 7 April 1975) is a Swedish singer-songwriter and record producer. Dreijer was one half of the electronic music duo the Knife, formed with their brother Olof Dreijer. They released their debut solo album under the alias Fever Ray in January 2009. Their second studio album, '' Plunge'', under the same alias, was released in October 2017. Dreijer's vocal style is notable for both shrill and deep tones, and also the use of multitracked vocals with the use of pitch-shifting technology. Visually, they use masks, face and body paint, intricate costumes, and other theatrical elements in photo shoots, videos and live performances, during which they often perform behind a gauze screen that partially obscures the audience's view. José Gabriel González (born 31 July 1978) is a Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist from Gothenburg. González is also a member of the band Junip, along with Tobias Winterkorn. Early life and education José González was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, to Argentine parents. The González family—made up of González's father, a National University of San Luis psychology student, González's mother, a fellow student studying biochemistry, both of whom were politically active, and González's older sister, then an infant—fled Argentina after the 1976 Argentine coup d'état, military coup d'état in March 1976, at the start of the "Dirty War". Honey Is Cool
Honey Is Cool were a Swedish indie rock band from Gothenburg, formed in 1994. The band's final line-up consisted of Karin Dreijer (vocals, guitar), John Jern (guitar), Staffan Larsson (bass), Tina Weibull (keyboards, synthesisers), and Fredrik Wennerlund (drums). History 'For the Sun' was one of the band's first songs, recorded in 1994, but never released commercially. A recording can be heard on Youtube. They recorded a demo and were signed by Sun Spot. Their first EP ''Focky Focky No Pay'' was released in 1996. The new drummer on the record was Håkan Hellström from Broder Daniel. After the ''Focky Focky No Pay'' was well-received, Honey Is Cool signed on to MVG and released ''Crazy Love'' in 1997. This album also got very good reviews but was not a commercial success. Honey Is Cool's failure to sell and the record company's interference in the production of the next album led to the band quitting and setting up their own label, Rabid Records.
