Rivière Des Îlets (Gouffre River Tributary)
The Rivière des Îlets is a tributary of the southern bank of the upper part of the Rivière du Gouffre, flowing in the unorganized territory of Lac-Pikauba, in the Charlevoix Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The lower part of this valley does not have roads suitable for cars because of the very mountainous terrain. The upper and middle parts of this valley are served by a few secondary forest roads which connect to the west with route 381. Forestry is the main economic activity in this valley; recreational tourism, second. The surface of the lower Îlets river is generally frozen from the beginning of December until the beginning of April; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from mid-December to the end of March. Lac-Pikauba, Quebec
Lac-Pikauba is an unorganized territory (Quebec), unorganized territory in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It is a large, unpopulated, undeveloped territory that makes up two-thirds of the Charlevoix Regional County Municipality. The entire area west of Quebec Route 381, which bisects the territory, is part of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve and the Grands-Jardins National Park. A portion of the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park is in the north-eastern part of the territory. The territory's largest lake is the eponymous Pikauba Lake. This toponym comes from the Innu-aimun, Montagnais word ''Opikopau''. ''Opi'' is a root to indicate that something is enclosed or confined. ''Kopau'' describes a lake with alders, reeds, or other. Baie-Saint-Paul
Baie-Saint-Paul (; 2021 Population 7,371; UA population 4,308) is a city in the Province of Quebec, Canada, on the northern shore of the St. Lawrence River. Baie-Saint-Paul is the seat of Charlevoix Regional County Municipality. The city is situated at the mouth of the Gouffre River. The place gained some prominence in the 1770s when Doctor Philippe-Louis-François Badelard named a disease he was researching the "Baie-Saint-Paul maladie". This illness was the subject of one of the first medical publications done in Lower Canada.
