Page Playoffs
The Page playoff system is a playoff format used primarily in softball and curling at the championship level, the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League cricket tournaments. Teams are Single-elimination tournament#Seeding, seeded using a round-robin tournament and the top four play a mix of a single-elimination tournament, single-elimination and double-elimination tournament to determine the winner. It is identical to a four-team McIntyre System playoff, first used by the West Australian Football League, WANFL, South Australian National Football League, SANFL and Australian Football League, VFL in Australia in 1931, originally called the Page–McIntyre system, after the VFL delegate, the Richmond Football Club's Secretary, Percy "Pip" Page, who had advocated its use. There are a number of formats used in various levels of competition in sports and games to determine an overall champion. Some of the most common are the ''single elimination'', the ''best-of-'' series, the ''total points series'' more commonly known as ''on aggregate'', and the ''round-robin tournament''. Single elimination A single-elimination ("knockout") playoff pits the participants in one-game matches, with the loser being dropped from the competition. Single-elimination tournaments are often used in individual sports like tennis. In most tennis tournaments, the players are seeded against each other, and the winner of each match continues to the next round, all the way to the final. World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC; french: Confédération internationale de baseball et softball) is the world governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, and Baseball5. League Of Legends Championship Series
The League Championship Series (LCS) is the top level of professional ''League of Legends'' in the United States and Canada. The esports league is run by Riot Games and has ten franchise teams. Each annual season of competition is divided into two splits, spring and summer, which conclude with a double-elimination tournament between the top eight teams. 2020 LCS Season
The 2020 LCS season was the third year under partnership and eighth overall of the ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (LCS), a professional esports league for the MOBA PC game ''League of Legends''. It was the first year that the league used a double elimination bracket for its playoff format. Championship points and the regional finals were also removed from the World Championship qualification process. The spring split began on January 25 and was scheduled to conclude with the spring finals on April 19; however, due to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States, the season was temporarily suspended on March 13. Single-elimination
A single-elimination, knockout, or sudden death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion. The World Curling Championships are the annual world championships for curling, organized by the World Curling Federation and contested by national championship teams. There are men's, women's and mixed doubles championships, as well as men's and women's versions of junior and senior championships. There is also a world championship for wheelchair curling. 1996 Scott Tournament Of Hearts
The 1996 Scott Tournament of Hearts Canadian women's national curling championship, was played February 17 to 25 at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ontario, skipped by Marilyn Bodogh won the title, defeating Alberta's Cheryl Kullman rink in the final. Ontario broke the game open with a three-ender in the sixth to go up 5–2. Alberta battled back to score 2 in the seventh, but lost a measurement in the 8th end, which would have tied the game at 5, but instead put them down 6–4. Ontario stole a point in the 9th to win the game, 7–4. With the win, Bodogh and her team of Kim Gellard, Corie Beveridge and Jane Hooper Perroud earned the right to represent Canada at the 1996 World Women's Curling Championship and a berth in the 1997 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.
