Helivac
Medical evacuation, often shortened to medevac or medivac, is the timely and efficient movement and en route care provided by medical personnel to wounded being evacuated from a battlefield, to injured patients being evacuated from the scene of an accident to receiving medical facilities, or to patients at a rural hospital requiring urgent care at a better-equipped facility using medically equipped air ambulances, especially helicopters. Examples include civilian Emergency medical services, EMS vehicles, civilian aeromedical helicopter services, and military air ambulances. This term also covers the transfer of patients from the battlefield to a treatment facility or from one treatment facility to another by medical personnel, such as from a local hospital to a trauma center. Agusta was an Italian helicopter manufacturer. It was based in Samarate, Northern Italy. The company was founded by Count Giovanni Agusta in 1923, who flew his first airplane in 1907. The MV Agusta motorcycle manufacturer began as an offshoot of the Agusta aviation company at the end of the Second World War, as a means to save the jobs of employees of the Agusta firm. In July 2000, Agusta merged with Westland Helicopters to form AgustaWestland S.p.A., a Multinational corporation, multinational helicopter design and manufacturing company, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica. History From 1952, the company became involved in helicopter manufacturing, first building Bell Aircraft Corporation, Bell helicopters under licence, but later Sikorsky Aircraft, Sikorsky, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas products as well.
