Al-Afḍal Al-ʿAbbās
Al-Afdal al-Abbas (; r. 1363–1377) was a ruler of Yemen and a member of the Rasulid dynasty. He was the son and successor of sultan al-Mujahid Ali. He produced Rasulid Hexaglot, a multilingual "dictionary" defining terms in Arabic, Persian language, Persian, Turkic languages, Turkic, Medieval Greek, Greek, Armenian language, Armenian, and Middle Mongol, Mongolian. He also took measures against extortion by local bureaucrats in the ports of the kingdom, thereby striving to maintain the attraction of Yemen in the eyes of foreign merchants. Yemen
Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen, is a country in West Asia. Located in South Arabia, southern Arabia, it borders Saudi Arabia to Saudi Arabia–Yemen border, the north, Oman to Oman–Yemen border, the northeast, the south-eastern part of the Arabian Sea to the east, the Gulf of Aden to the south, and the Red Sea to the west, sharing maritime boundary, maritime borders with Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia across the Horn of Africa.
