Poly-1
The Poly-1 was a desktop computer designed in New Zealand for educational use. Background The Poly-1 was developed in 1980 by Neil Scott and Paul Bryant, who at the time were teaching electronics engineering at Wellington Polytechnic (now Massey University's Wellington campus), which the computer was named after. As with the Acorn BBC Micro in Britain, Scott and Bryant saw the increasing need for a fully integrated computer to serve the New Zealand school market, which had the blessing of then Education Minister Merv Wellington. After Scott and Bryant gathered a team of engineers and designers, DFC New Zealand Limited and Lower Hutt-based Progeni Systems — founded by Perce Harpham in 1968 — formed a joint venture, Polycorp, to market and build the Poly-1, which entered production in 1981. European windstorms are powerful extratropical cyclones which form as cyclone, cyclonic windstorms associated with areas of low atmospheric pressure. Storm Poly, also known as or Cyclone Poly, was an extremely violent European windstorm which affected Benelux, Germany, and the United Kingdom during July 2023. The thirty-seventh windstorm of the 2022–23 European windstorm season, Poly was named by the Free University of Berlin on 4 July. Polyspheric
The Polyspheric engines were V8 engines produced by Chrysler from 1955 to 1958 as lower-cost alternatives to its ''Hemi'' engines. These engines were based on the ''Hemi'' engines, using the same blocks and crankshaft parts, but completely different cylinder heads, pushrods, exhaust manifolds and pistons. They were called ''Polyspheric'' or ''Poly'' engines, because they featured polyspherical-shaped (meaning "more than one sphere") combustion chambers. These were formed by two shallow concave domes where the intake and exhaust valve seats were. Poly was a website created by Google for users to browse, distribute, and download 3D objects. It was launched in 2017 and intended to allow creators to easily share and access 3D objects.
