Zolotonosha ( uk, Золотоноша , yi, זאלאטאנאשא) is a city located in Cherkasy Oblast (region) in central Ukraine. Located at around , the city serves as the administrative center of Zolotonosha Raion (district). It hosts the administration of Zolotonosha urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: Zolotonosha is located on the Zolotonoshka River, a tributary of the Dnipro River within of the oblast's administrative center, Cherkasy. The city is also located on the railroad line from Bakhmach to Odessa, and on the freeway from Kyiv to Kremenchuk and from Cherkasy to Shramivka. Zolotonosha Raion is a Raions of Ukraine, raion (district) of Cherkasy Oblast, central Ukraine. Its administrative centre is located at the city of Zolotonosha. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Cherkasy Oblast was reduced to four, and the area of Zolotonosha Raion was significantly expanded. Cherkasy Oblast ( uk, Черка́ська о́бласть, Cherkaska oblast, ), also referred to as Cherkashchyna ( uk, Черка́щина, ) is an oblast (province) of central Ukraine located along the Dnieper River. Zolotonosha urban hromada is a hromada of Ukraine, in Zolotonosha Raion, Cherkasy Oblast. Its administrative center is the city of Zolotonosha. Zolotonoshka River
The Zolotonoshka is a small river in south-central Ukraine. The Zolotonoshka is a left tributary of the Dnieper (Dnipro). The length of the river is 88 kilometers. The drainage basin is 1260 km2. The name is derived from a legend that Ukrainian cossacks were hiding gold (from Ukrainian: золото (zoloto - gold) in the river. Scientists explain that the sand on the bottom of the river was shining in the sunlight, making people believe that there was gold.
