Zihuatanejo De Azueta
Zihuatanejo de Azueta is a municipality located on the Pacific coast in the western part of the Mexican state of Guerrero. It includes the major resort communities of Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa in addition to numerous other towns. In 2010 it had a population of 118,211 inhabitants. It has an area of 1468 km² (567 sq mi). Its municipal seat is the city of Zihuatanejo. Its municipal president for the 2005-08 period was Silvano Blanco Deaquino. Overview It was created on 23 December 1953 and named in honour of Lt. Zihuatanejo
Zihuatanejo (), or Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, is the fourth-largest city in the Mexican state of Guerrero. It was known by 18th century English mariners as Chequetan or Seguataneo. Politically the city belongs to the municipality of Zihuatanejo de Azueta in the western part of Guerrero, but both are commonly referred to as Zihuatanejo. Ixtapa
Ixtapa (, ) is a resort city in Mexico, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean in the municipality of Zihuatanejo de Azueta in the state of Guerrero. It is located northwest of the municipal seat, Zihuatanejo, and northwest of Acapulco. In the 2005 INEGI Census, the population of Ixtapa was 6,406. Creation of Ixtapa Ixtapa is a government-planned tourist resort that was begun in the and constructed on what was once a coconut plantation and mangrove estuary. In 1968, the Bank of Mexico created a special fund for the creation of new tourist destinations on the country's coastlines. José Azueta Abad (May 2, 1895 – May 10, 1914), usually known as José Azueta, was a Mexican Navy lieutenant who became famous for his role in the United States occupation of Veracruz, where he was fatally wounded. He is one of the most revered national heroes in Veracruz. Early life and education Born in Guerrero on May 2, 1895, son to Commodore Manuel Azueta Perillos and Josefa Abad. Due to the labor of his father in military service, the family moved to the port of Veracruz. The United States occupation of Veracruz (April 21 to November 23, 1914) began with the Battle of Veracruz and lasted for seven months.
