Zurich Airport
Zurich Airport is the largest international airport of Switzerland and the airline hub, principal hub of Swiss International Air Lines. It serves Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland, and, with its surface transport links, much of the rest of the country. The airport is located north of central Zurich, in the municipalities of Kloten, Rümlang, Oberglatt, Winkel, Switzerland, Winkel, and Opfikon, all of which are within the canton of Zurich. Oberglatt is a municipality in the district of Dielsdorf in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland, and belongs to the Glatt Valley (). Zurich Airport is partially in Oberglatt. History Oberglatt is first mentioned around 1153-55 as ''Obrunglate''. Oberglatt suffered a serious fire in 1670, which destroyed twelve houses. Fifteen houses were burnt down in 1825. In recent decades, the municipality has seen a great deal of building activity. Among other things, an actual railroad station quarter was built. Dübendorf Air Base () was a military airfield of the Swiss Air Force northeast of Dübendorf in Switzerland, located east of Zürich. It includes the Flieger-Flab-Museum. History The search for a suitable site for an airfield started in 1909. On 1 August 1910 improvement of the swamp started and on 22 October 1910 the first airshow was held on the Airfield Dübendorf. Since 1914, Dübendorf has been used as an air base by the Swiss Air Force. Swisstopo is the official name for the Swiss Federal Office of Topography, Switzerland's national mapping agency. The current name was made official in 2002. It had been used as the domain name for the homepage of the instituteswisstopo.admin.ch since 1997. Maps The main class of products produced by Swisstopo are topographical maps on seven different Scale (map), scales. Swiss maps have been praised for their accuracy and quality.
