Zurich is an unincorporated community in Blaine County, Montana, United States, located at . Located along the Hi-Line of Montana, between Harlem and Chinook, along U.S. Route 2. It has a post office with the ZIP code of 59547, and a public school serving grades PK through 8. There is also a bar; the store and bank are closed and abandoned, as are two grain elevators and other business buildings. Various online sources give the population as 22-23 residents. The Milk River flows south of town. Demographics History Sometime around 1887, Great Northern Railway officials named one of their main line sidings Zurich, for the city in Switzerland. A post office was established in 1907. In 1913 the townsite was platted. In 1923, a population increase was occasioned by the arrival of Volga Germans seeking employment in sugar beet farming. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Later, the climatologist Rudolf Geiger (1894–1981) introduced some changes to the classification system, which is thus sometimes called the Köppen–Geiger climate classification system. Mike Tilleman
Michael John Tilleman (March 30, 1944 – September 18, 2020) was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons (1966–76). He played college football for the Montana Grizzlies. Biography Early life Tilleman was born and raised on a ranch near Zurich, Montana by Henry (Hank) and Irma Tilleman (née D'Hooge), where he went to school in a one-room schoolhouse. He was a prep star at Chinook High School and attended the University of Montana on scholarship. Playing career Tilleman played for the Grizzlies from 1963 to 1964, where he was a second-team All-Big Sky Conference selection in both seasons. Havre ( ) is the county seat and largest city in Hill County, Montana, United States. Havre is nicknamed the crown jewel of the Hi-Line. It is said to be named after the city of Le Havre in France. As of the 2020 census the population was 9,362. History Havre was incorporated in north-central Montana on 5 September 1893. In August 1893, twenty-six people voted to incorporate Havre as a city on September 5 of that year. The townsite was platted south of the railroad tracks on parts of Descelles’ and Simon Pepin’s ranches.
