Zoboomafoo
''Zoboomafoo'' is a live-action/animated children's television series that originally aired on PBS from January 25, 1999, to November 21, 2001. After the original run on public television, reruns were shown on Universal Kids#As PBS Kids Sprout/Sprout (2005–17), PBS Kids Sprout until 2012. A total of 65 episodes were aired. A creation of the Kratt brothers, Kratt Brothers (Chris Kratt, Chris and Martin Kratt), it features a talking Coquerel's sifaka lemur named Zoboomafoo, performed by Canadian puppeteer Gord Robertson (who had also puppeteered on Jim Henson, Jim Henson's ''Fraggle Rock''), and mainly portrayed by a lemur named Jovian (lemur), Jovian, along with a collection of returned animal guests. Jovian (lemur)
Jovian (April 10, 1994 – November 10, 2014) was a Coquerel's sifaka lemur, best known for portraying the title character in the children's television series ''Zoboomafoo''. Biography Jovian was born on April 10, 1994, at the Duke Lemur Center in Durham, North Carolina, to parents Nigel and Flavia. When Martin Kratt and his younger brother Chris wanted a lemur co-host for their TV show ''Zoboomafoo'', Martin returned to the Duke Lemur Center, where he had previously volunteered while a student at Duke University. In 1997, the Kratts prepared for the show by filming Jovian and his parents jumping around an outdoor cage modeled on the stage set. Jovian appeared on the program from January 1999 to November 2001. Jovian would appear mostly in the opening segments, before transforming into a talking lemur puppet after eating his meals. Duke Lemur Center
The Duke Lemur Center is a non-invasive research center housing over 200 lemurs and bush babies across 13 species. It is located at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. According to the Center, it houses the most diverse population of lemurs outside of their native Madagascar. The center is open to the public through tours, for which visitors must make an appointment. History In 1966, a prosimian colony of approximately 90 individuals, belonging to John Buettner-Janusch, was relocated from the Center for Prosimian Biology at Yale University to Duke University, creating the Duke Lemur Center (DLC). Chris Kratt
Christopher Frederick James Kratt (born July 19, 1969) is an American biologist, educational nature show host and YouTuber. A grandson of musical-instrument manufacturer William Jacob "Bill" Kratt, he and his older brother Martin grew up in Warren Township, New Jersey, and together created children's television series '' Kratts' Creatures'', ''Zoboomafoo'', and '' Be the Creature'' (which aired on the National Geographic Channel and CBC), as well as '' Wild Kratts'' (which airs on PBS Kids and TVOKids). ''Kratts' Creatures'' is a half-hour children's television series that originally ran on PBS during the summer of 1996. The first in a series of programs produced by the Kratt Brothers, Chris and Martin Kratt, ''Kratts' Creatures'' was made to be the first wildlife show aimed specifically towards young children. Coquerel's Sifaka
Coquerel's sifaka (''Propithecus coquereli'') is a Diurnality, diurnal, medium-sized lemur of the sifaka genus ''Sifaka, Propithecus''. It is native to northwest Madagascar.
