Zillmere is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Zillmere had a population of 9,323 people. Geography As at 2008, Zillmere was approximately 60% residential and 40% industrial. History The Turrbal people occupied the region north of Brisbane River, including the area covered by Zillmere. With European settlement, the area came to be known as Zillman's Waterholes, named after Johann Leopold Zillmann (1813–1892), a Lutheran missionary who served at the mission station nearby at Nundah. In January 1872, the Brisbane Courier described Zillman's Waterholes as being situated between Cabbage Tree Creek and Downfall Creek. It was settled with twenty-seven small farmers residing on the land. At the time there were "two chapels, a brickyard and pottery". The settlers grew pineapples, pigs and other small crops. Nundah (previously called German Station) is an inner suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It contains the neighbourhood of Toombul. In the , Nundah had a population of 13,098 people. Prior to European settlement, Nundah was inhabited by Australian Aborigine, Aboriginal people from the Turrbul tribe. Nundah is primarily a residential suburb, which straddles Sandgate Road, one of the major arterial roads of Brisbane's north. It was first settled by Europeans in the mid-19th century, although the suburb remained primarily a rural area until it was connected to Brisbane via railway in the 1880s. Originally considered a working-class suburb, the area has become gentrified in recent years, and today features a mix of traditional worker's cottages and modern high-density apartment blocks. Northpine Christian College is an independent Seventh-day Adventist co-educational primary and secondary day school, located at Dakabin, on the north side of Brisbane of Queensland, Australia. The College is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, South Queensland District and is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's worldwide educational system. History Northpine Christian College has experienced many major changes since it first commenced with just 26 students in January 1940. It began in the hall at the back of the Albion Seventh-day Adventist Church in Brisbane. As enrolments grew, a small school was established at Zillmere in 1953. James Duhig
Sir James Duhig KCMG (2 September 187110 April 1965) was an Irish-born Australian Roman Catholic religious leader. He was the Archbishop of Brisbane for 48 years from 1917 until his death in 1965. At the time of his death he was the longest-serving bishop in the Catholic Church (1905–1965). Early years Duhig was born in Broadford, County Limerick but emigrated with his family to Australia as a young boy. He completed his education at St. Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace, Queensland. Sandgate Road is a major road in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It provides part of the road connection between Redcliffe, Queensland, Redcliffe and the Brisbane central business district, Brisbane CBD. It is designated state route 26 throughout most of its length.
