Zhegër
Zhegër (in Albanian) or Žegra (in Serbian; Жегра) is a village in the Gjilan district of Kosovo. It is located in the Karadak region on the banks of the Žegra river, a right tributary of the Binačka Morava, at the foot of Kušljevica (614 m), on both sides of the road towards Donja Budriga. Etymology Žegra is mentioned for the first time as a place of residence in the charter of King Milutin when it was handed over to the Gračanica Monastery, then in the charter of Empress Milica with her sons, in 1393. The village was a feudal holding of the monastery to whom it paid tributaries. On the occasion of the appointment of the mezhds of the village of Livoç, in Mikel Lluakri's book in the 15th century, it is mentioned as Segra, while in the 1455 Ottoman register of Vëllk Vilayet, it is mentioned as Zhipa, which according to the settlements for the district, as the researcher Sherafedin Kadriu states, turns out to be Zhegër. Zhegër Incident (1999)
The Zhegër incident was a clash between U.S. Marines from the Kosovo Force (KFOR) and armed Serbs in the village of Zhegër on June 23, 1999, during NATO's peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, known as Operation Joint Guardian. The incident occurred when U.S. Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), were attacked by armed gunmen at a checkpoint in the village of Zhegër, located southeast of Gjilan, Kosovo. Agim Ramadani
Agim Ramadani (3 May 1963 – 11 April 1999) also known with nickname "KATANA", was an Albanian commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), an ethnic Albanian paramilitary organization that sought the independence of Kosovo from Serbia. He was killed in action during the Battle of Košare. After the war, he was declared a Hero of Kosovo. Biography Agim Ramadani was born on 3 May 1963 in the village of Zhegër located in the Karadak Highlands in the municipality of Gjilan in AP Kosovo. His family originally hails from Depce near Preševo and belongs to the Berisha tribe. Xherdan Shaqiri (; born 10 October 1991) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a winger for Swiss Super League club Basel. Shaqiri rose through the youth ranks at Basel.
