Mythology and literature In European tradition, it has usually been considered the mildest and most favorable of the directional winds. In ancient Greek mythology and religion, the god Zephyrus was the personification of the west wind and the bringer of light spring and early summer breezes; his Roman equivalent was Favonius (hence the adjective ''favonian'', pertaining to the west wind). The Zephyrs
The Zephyrs are an Edinburgh, Scotland-based indie band. They have released six albums and two EPs containing their shoegazing folk-rock style. Band history Brothers Stuart (vocals, guitar) and David Nicol (bass) had been playing music together for many years before forming The Zephyrs; they released their first album in 1999. ''It's OK Not to Say Anything'' was released on the Edinburgh indie label Evol; it garnered the attention of Scottish post-rock band Mogwai who signed The Zephyrs to their own imprint Rock Action, which was then owned by SouthPaw Records. In 2001 the band released their second album ''When the Sky Comes Down It Comes Down on Your Head'' (which included guest vocals from Mojave 3's Rachel Goswell) through SouthPaw Records. The band's first release, ''Zephyr'' (sometimes referred to as the bathtub album), on ABC/Probe reached #48 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart on March 14, 1970. Zephyr made an appearance on American Bandstand on 1/31/70 lip syncing to "Cross the River". Although the charismatic performances by Candy Givens were the focal point for the band, the flashy guitar work of Bolin is what the band is best remembered for. When Bolin left after the band's second release ''Going Back to Colorado'', he was replaced by Jock Bartley, and the band recorded the album ''Sunset Ride'', their second for Warner Brothers Records. On ''Sunset Ride'', Candy Givens displayed her gifts as a singer, composer, and harmonica player. The album was produced by David Givens, who wrote most of the songs. As ...

The album missed most major music charts, but did appear at number 12 on the UK Dance Albums Chart. Background The group had originally planned on recording a double album, with one album consisting of more ambient and mellow songs and the other traditional dance music tracks. However, the group decided on releasing '' Scars'' on its own, with ''Zephyr'' as its follow-up. Felix Buxton told ''PopMatters'': " swe were very keen on kind of doing a double-album. And then it’s just one of those things: you feel ou’re inyour progressive rock phase. It's very Spinal Tap to do a double-album, and acts ometimestake them ...
