Zengen is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Ereğli, Konya Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,668 (2022). Between 1977 and the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Ereğli, Konya
Ereğli is a municipality and district of Konya Province, Turkey. Its area is 2,214 km2, and its population is 150,978 (2022). Its elevation is . History The ancient town of Heraclea Cybistra (Ηράκλεια Κυβίστρα in Ancient Greek) was located here, and gave its name (Heracles) to the modern town. The town had some importance in Hellenistic times owing to its position near the point where the road to the Gülek Pass (Cilician Gates) enters the hills. It lay in the way of armies and was more than once sacked by the Arab invaders of Asia Minor (AD 805 and 832). During the Crusade of 1101 it was the scene of a failed battle of 15,000 men led by William II, Count of Nevers against the Seljuks, which left the Crusaders weak en route to Antioch. Belde
Belde (literally "town", also known as ''kasaba'') means "large village with a municipality" in Turkish language, Turkish. All Turkish province centers and district centers have municipalities, but the Villages of Turkey, villages are usually too small to have municipalities. The population in some villages may exceed 2000 and in such villages a small municipality may be established depending on residents' choice. Such villages are called ''belde''. Up to 2014 the number of ''belde'' municipalities was about 1400. On 30 March 2014 by the act no. 6360 all villages (those with and without municipality) were included in the urban fabric of the district municipalities in 30 provinces. Thus ''belde'' municipalities in 30 provinces were abolished. The number of abolished ''belde'' municipalities is 1040. Burçak Tarlası (song)
Burçak Tarlası (literally "Vetch Field") is the arranged form of a Turkish folkloric tune (türkü) and it is one of the pioneers in Turkish pop music. There are similar folkloric dance tunes known as "Ka mi ispadnala moma Katerina" in North Macedonia, and "Στην Αγιά Μαρκέλλα" in Greece. However, "Burçak Tarlası" is based on a tragic real-life story. Original form The original form of the türkü was popular in Central Anatolia . It was probably composed by a folk poet known as Kör Şakir (Şakir the Blind) in 1931. According to unconfirmed stories, the lyrics refer to Meryem Sayar a newly wed woman who complains from her mother in law. Her mother in law who was the wife of a late Muhtar (title), muhtar of Zengen, Ereğli, Zengen village ( Konya Province) wakes her up very early in the mornings and forces her to work hard in the vetch fields.
