José Castulo Zeledón
José Castulo Zeledón (March 24, 1846 – July 16, 1923) was a Costa Rican ornithologist. He was the son of Don Manuel Zeledón, governor of the district of San José. José became interested in birds at an early age, and learned about ornithology from the German naturalist and physician Alexander von Frantzius, when he was employed at his pharmacy in San José. Zeledón started collecting birds locally, the specimens being sent to Jean Cabanis at the Berlin Museum. In 1868 Frantzius returned to Germany. En route, he took Zeledón to Washington, where Zeledón met Spencer Fullerton Baird and became an assistant at the Smithsonian Institution. It was here that he began a lifelong friendship with Robert Ridgway. José Joaquín Rodríguez Zeledón
José Joaquín Rodríguez Zeledón (6 January 1837 – 30 November 1917) was List of Presidents of Costa Rica, President of Costa Rica from 1890 to 1894. Rodríguez was born on 6 January 1837. He studied law at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, but owing to family matters and economic circumstances he had to break off his studies and return to Costa Rica. However, he did eventually graduate with a law degree from the ''Universidad de Santo Tomás'' in San José, Costa Rica, San José. He was a prestigious lawyer who had never made any active forays into the country's politics, but he had distinguished himself as the Magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice (''Corte Suprema de Justicia''). For a short time he also occupied the post of Secretary of State in Bernardo Soto Alfaro, Bernardo Soto's government. José María Zeledón Brenes (April 26, 1877 – December 6, 1949) was a Costa Rican politician, poet, journalist and writer under the pen name Billo Zeledón. Manuel González Zeledón
Manuel González Zeledón (24 December 1864 – 29 May 1936) was a Costa Rican writer. Writing under the nom-de-plume "Magón", he also worked to promote culture and literature in the country. While his literary output was not prolific, he is remembered for works that serve to cast light on the people and culture of Costa Rica. Born in San José, he began his writing career on the newspaper ''La Patria'', which at the time was edited by the writer Aquileo J. Echeverría. Later, in conjunction with other writers, he founded the newspaper ''El País'', opposing clerical interference in the government of the country. In 1932 he was appointed ambassador to the United States, and made his last return to Costa Rica on May 16th, 1936. The ambassador returned to his native country, ill, and died on May 29th, 1936. Rodrigo Alberto Carazo Zeledón (born 1948) is a Costa Rican politician, economist, lawyer and political scientist who was elected in June 2022 to a four-year term (starting January 1, 2023) as a member of the UN Human Rights Committee by the state parties to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. He was Costa Rica's representative to the United Nations from 2018 to 2022, having presented his credentials the 31st of August 2018. He was the first Ombudsman of the Republic of Costa Rica and a former delegate to the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica who served in that capacity during the Pacheco administration. Vicente Herrera Zeledón
Vicente de las Mercedes Herrera Zeledón (20 January 1821 – 10 November 1888) was President of Costa Rica from 30 July 1876 to 11 September 1877. He came to power in the coup d'état that deposed President Aniceto Esquivel and resigned in favor of Gen. Tomás Guardia the following year. Biography He was the son of José Cleto Herrera Salazar (born 1798–1880) and Antonia Zeledón Masís (born in 1854). Benjamín Francisco Zeledón Rodríguez (October 4, 1879 – October 4, 1912) was a Nicaraguan lawyer, politician and soldier known under the posthumous title of "National Hero of Nicaragua". He was born on 4 October 1879 in Jinotega Department to Don Marcelino Zeledón Ugarte and Doña Maria Salomé Rodriguez. Pérez Zeledón is the nineteenth Cantons of Costa Rica, canton of the province of San José Province, San José in Costa Rica, located in the Brunca, Brunca Region. San Isidro de El General Airport is an airport serving the city of San Isidro de El General and Pérez Zeledón county, Costa Rica. The airport is south of downtown San Isidro. The airport is a public airstrip managed by the country's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC). The airstrip has a terminal building constructed in 2022 but no refueling capabilities.
