Zbůch
Zbůch () is a municipality and village in Plzeň-North District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,100 inhabitants. Administrative division Zbůch consists of two municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census): *Zbůch (2,620) *Červený Újezd (104) Etymology The origin of the name is unclear. It was probably derived from the Old Czech ''zbóh, zbuoh'' (in modern Czech ''zbůhdarma''), meaning 'in vain'. Geography Zbůch is located about southwest of Plzeň. It lies in the Plasy Uplands. The terrain is flat to slightly undulating. The highest point is at above sea level. History Early history The first written mention of Zbůch is from 1253, when it was cited as a property of the Chotěšov Abbey, Premonstratensian monastery in Chotěšov.
