''Zână'' (plural ''zâne''; ''zînă'' and ''zîne'', ''d̦ână'' and ''d̦âne'' in old spellings) is the Romanian equivalent of the Greek Charites or the fairy godmother. They are the opposite of monsters such as Muma Pădurii. These characters make positive appearances in fairy tales and mostly reside in the woods. Zana (band)
Zana is a Serbian rock and pop group formed in Belgrade in 1979. Formed by guitarist Radovan Jovićević, keyboardist Zoran Živanović and vocalist Zana Nimani, Zana was initially a part of the Yugoslav new wave scene. With their second album they turned towards more commercial synth-pop and achieved large mainstream popularity. Until the mid-1980s the band had moved from their initial new wave and synth-pop sound towards pop rock and pop. After the departure of Zana Nimani in 1984, Jovićević and Živanović continued to lead the band, changing two vocalists, Nataša Gajović and Nataša Živković. During the 1990s, Zana worked as a pop trio consisting of Jovićević, Živanović and vocalist Jelena Galonić. Zana Of Tkhina
Zana () was a woman who lived in the second half of the 19th century in Abkhazia, South Caucasus. According to legend, she was an Almas ("forest woman") of great proportions entirely covered in hair, captured by hunters in the forests of Abkhazia in the mid-19th century. The residents of the village of Tkhina and cryptozoologists controversially considered Zana to be a wild man or a yeti; these theories are nowadays largely considered to be influenced by local folklore. In 2021, the presumed skull of Zana, exhumed from a grave in a family cemetery, was deemed to be human, being of an elderly woman with distinct equatorial features. DNA analysis of Zana (and six of her descendants) showed her to be human and of Central African origin. Zana Ramadani (born 1984) is a German politician, feminist activist, and author of Albanian descent. She was born in Skopje, but fled to West Germany as a child.
