General Muhammad Yusaf Khan ( ur, ; born February 10, 1948) was a senior general of the Pakistan Army who served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) from October 8, 2001 until October 7, 2004. Following the end of his 3-year term in October 2004, he was succeeded by General Ahsan Saleem Hyat. Military career General Yusaf Khan graduated from Military College Jhelum (College No. 2642), He was commissioned in the Pakistan Army in 1966 in the 37th PMA Long Course and joined the Guides Cavalry. Yusuf Khan And Sherbano
''Yusuf Khan and Sherbano'' is a famous Pashtun amorous folktale. Its format is an extended narrative described as ''qissa'' or ''dastan''. It is listed along with '' Adam Khan and Durkhanai'', ''Ramadad Khan'', and ''Ajab Khan'' as one of the important Pashto ''dastans'' which are available as chapbooks or in audio formats. The tale has also been termed as the Pukhtun version of ''Romeo and Juliet''. Development The story of Yusuf Khan and Sherbano was put to verse by poet Ali Haidar Joshi (Joshi was a pen name) in the 1960s and was turned into a film, ''Yousuf Khan Sher Bano'', released in 1970. The poem was translated into French by Benedict Johnson (in 1982) and into English by Heston and Nasir (in 1988). The story is transmitted by ''qissa-khwans'', a term usually translated as "storytellers" who "say" or "sing" (''Wayel'') the verses. Yousuf Khan (5 August 1937 – 1 July 2006) was an Indian footballer who represented India national team at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Yusuf Husain Khan (1902–1979), born in Hyderabad, Hyderabad State, British India, was a historian, scholar, educationist, critic and author. He mastered the languages of Arabic, English, French, Urdu, Hindi and Persian. Muhammed Yusuf Khan
Maruthanayagam Pillai (1725 – 15 October 1764), was the commandant of the British East India Company's Madras Army . He was born in a Tamil Vellalar family in a village called Panaiyur in British India, what is now in Nainarkoil Taluk, Ramanathapuram District of Tamil Nadu, India. He converted to Islam and was named Muhammad Yusuf Khan. He was popularly known as Khan Sahib when he became a ruler of Madurai. He became a warrior in the Arcot troops, and later a commandant for the British East India Company troops. The British and the Arcot Nawab employed him to suppress the Polygar (a.k.a. Palayakkarar) uprising in South India. Later he was entrusted to administer the Madurai country when the Madurai Nayak rule ended. A dispute arose with the British and Arcot Nawab, and three of Khan's associates were bribed to capture him.
