Yamaha Tracer 900
The Yamaha Tracer 900 (FJ-09 in North America; MT-09 Tracer in Japan, South America, Australia, and New Zealand) is a sport touring motorcycle first offered in 2015. The 3-cylinder crossplane engine comes from the MT-09 (FZ-09 in North America). Design and development Yamaha announced the release of the MT-09 Tracer on November 4 2014 as a variant based on the popular MT-09 sports model powered by an 850cc in-line three-cylinder engine. They released in the European market in early March 2015. The MT-09 Tracer is based on the current MT-09 model that is popular for its ability to respond as the rider intends and powered by an in-line three-cylinder Crossplane Concept engine. Yamaha TDM
The Yamaha TDM is a sport touring motorcycle built by Yamaha Motor Company between 1991 and 2011. Design The TDM was not intended as an off-road machine but as a comfortable yet manoeuvrable all-rounder. A TDM is too bulky and heavy for serious off-road work, but its long-travel suspension can cope with gravel tracks. The TDM's engine was derived from the Paris-Dakar winning Yamaha XTZ 750 Super Tenere. Yamaha intended to create a motorcycle capable of handling European mountain roads and coping with rougher road surfaces. The TDM's upright riding position seemed radical in its day. The Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré is a motorcycle produced by Yamaha Motor Corporation, that was launched in 2010. The XT1200Z is the largest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré, a desert region in the south central Sahara. It features a liquid-cooled four-stroke, fuel-injected parallel-twin engine with a 270° crank, which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive. The XT1200Z also features multi-mode traction control system and electronic throttle control (YCC-T) with programs to support off-road use, switchable engine mapping, and combined brakes with ABS. The Yamaha MT-09 is a street motorcycle of the MT series with an liquid-cooled four-stroke 12-valve DOHC inline-three engine with crossplane crankshaft and a lightweight cast alloy frame. For 2018, the bike is now designated MT-09 in all markets. Design and development The MT-09 competes against the Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z900, and MV Agusta Brutale 800. The crossplane or cross-plane is a crankshaft design for piston engines with a 90° angle (phase in crank rotation) between the crank throws. The crossplane crankshaft is the most popular configuration used in V8 road cars.
