Yahoo (Gulliver's Travels)
Yahoos are legendary beings in the 1726 satirical novel '' Gulliver's Travels'' written by Jonathan Swift. Their behaviour and character representation is meant to comment on the state of Europe from Swift's point of view. The word "yahoo" was coined by Jonathan Swift in the fourth section of ''Gulliver's Travels'' and has since entered the English language more broadly. Swift describes Yahoos as filthy with unpleasant habits, "a brute in human form," resembling human beings far too closely for the liking of protagonist Lemuel Gulliver. He finds the calm and rational society of intelligent horses, the Houyhnhnms, greatly preferable. The Yahoos are primitive creatures obsessed with "pretty stones" that they find by digging in mud, thus representing the distasteful materialism and ignorant elitism Swift encountered in Britain. Round Heads And Pointed Heads
''Round Heads and Pointed Heads'' (german: Die Rundköpfe und die Spitzköpfe) is an epic parable play written by the German dramatist Bertolt Brecht, in collaboration with Margarete Steffin, Emil Burri, Elisabeth Hauptmann, and the composer Hanns Eisler. The play's subtitle is ''Money Calls to Money'' and its authors describe it as "a tale of horror." The play is a satirical anti-Nazi parable about a fictitious country called Yahoo in which the rulers maintain their control by setting the people with round heads against those with pointed heads, thereby substituting racial relations for their antagonistic class relations. The play is composed of 11 scenes in prose and blank verse and 13 songs. Yahoo is a Brazilian rock band formed in 1988. History Yahoo was founded in 1988 by guitarist Robertinho do Recife. It was fairly successful in Brazil during the 1990s by playing cover versions of other bands' hard rock songs translated to Portuguese. Many of their songs were also used in soundtracks of telenovelas. Their self-titled debut album, ''Yahoo'', had the Def Leppard's hit " Love Bites" translated as "Mordidas de Amor", and was used in the soundtrack of the telenovela ''Bebê a Bordo''. The next album, ''Oração da Vitória'' ("Victory Prayer"), brought them another hit, "Anjo" (cover of Aerosmith's "Angel"), again used in a telenovela, ''O Sexo dos Anjos''. In 1990, Yahoo released the album ''Yahoo 3''. ''The Innocents'' is the third studio album by English synth-pop duo Erasure, released on 10 April 1988 by Sire and Reprise Records in the United States and on 18 April 1988 by Mute Records in Germany and the United Kingdom. Produced by Stephen Hague, it was the release that made Erasure superstars in their home country of the UK and gave them their breakthrough in the US. ''The Innocents'' became the first in a string of number-one albums by Erasure in the UK, turning double platinum with sales over 600,000. Farhad Darya (Pashto/Dari: ; born 22 September 1962) is an Afghan singer, composer and music producer who has written and composed songs in various languages. Darya sings in various languages including mostly his native language of Persian/Dari and Pashto but also in Uzbeki, Hindi-Urdu and English. Darya serves as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) National Goodwill Ambassador for Afghanistan and is involved in numerous charitable organizations, such as ''Music Village'' and others.
