Yunnan–Guangdong HVDC
The Yunnan–Guangdong HVDC is a high-voltage direct current transmission system connecting Chuxiong in the Yunnan to Suidong, Zengcheng in Guangdong, China. It is the first HVDC link in the world operating at a transmission voltage of 800 kV. The transmission line is operated by China Southern Power Grid. Chuxiong City
Chuxiong City (; Chuxiong Yi Script: , IPA: ) is a county-level city and the capital of the Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, in Central Yunnan Province, China. Chuxiong City borders Lufeng to the east, Shuangbai County to the south, Nanhua County and Jingdong County to the west, and Mouding County to the north. Zengcheng
Zengcheng District ( alternately romanized as Tsengshing) is one of 11 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, China. History was established under the Qin following their conquest of the area, formerly held by the Baiyue tribes. Under the Ming, the northern area of the county was separated to form Longmen County, administered from Huizhou. The county was promoted to city status in 1993. In 2006, a western section of Zengcheng was severed to form Guangzhou's Luogang District, which was renamed Huangpu in 2014. HVDC
A high-voltage direct current (HVDC) electric power transmission system uses direct current (DC) for electric power transmission, in contrast with the more common alternating current (AC) transmission systems. Most HVDC links use voltages between 100 kV and 800 kV. HVDC lines are commonly used for long-distance power transmission, since they require fewer conductors and incur less power loss than equivalent AC lines. HVDC also allows power transmission between AC transmission systems that are not Synchronization (alternating current), synchronized. Since the power flow through an HVDC link can be controlled independently of the phase angle between source and load, it can stabilize a network against disturbances due to rapid changes in power.
