Yukarıkurudere, Emirdağ
Yukarıkurudere is a village in the Emirdağ District, Afyonkarahisar Province, Turkey. Its population is 487 (2021). Yukarıkurudere is located south of Mount Emirdağ, about 1276 meters above sea level. It is located at the Foothills of Dedeli mountain. The village includes 3 neighbourhoods: Palıtlı, Mazı and Mahrumlu. The name Yukarıkurudere means Upper Dry Creek. A dry creek runs through the village. History In the past the village was united with Aşağıkurudere (Lower Dry Creek) but they split because of the distance between them. The name of the village before the split was Kurudere. Both Yukarıkurudere and Aşağıkurudere were established after 3 Yörük (Turkish nomadic) brothers migrated from Yozgat in 1796. Emigration The majority of the people emigrated to Europe from 1965 to 1990. Most moved to Belgium, while others landed in The Netherlands, Germany and France. Muhtar (title)
A muhtar is the elected village head in villages of Turkey and in villages of Northern Cyprus, the Turkish occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus. In city, cities, likewise, each neighbourhood has a muhtar but with a slightly different status. Muhtars and their village councils () are elected during local elections for five years. However, political party, political parties are not permitted to nominate candidates for these posts. Rural muhtars In each village, the muhtar is the highest elected authority of the village. Yörüks
The Yörüks, also Yuruks or Yorouks (; , ''Youroúkoi''; ; , ''Juruci''), are a Turkish ethnic subgroup of Oghuz descent, some of whom are nomadic, primarily inhabiting the mountains of Anatolia, and partly in the Balkan peninsula. Oghuz Turks
The Oghuz Turks ( Middle Turkic: , ) were a western Turkic people who spoke the Oghuz branch of the Turkic language family. In the 8th century, they formed a tribal confederation conventionally named the Oghuz Yabgu State in Central Asia. Afshar People
Afshar ( ; , ; ; ) is a tribe of Oghuz Turks, Oghuz Turkic origin that split into several groups in Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan. Afshar means "obedient". According to Rashid-al-Din Hamadani, Afshar, the eponymous founder of the tribe, was a son of Yildiz Khan, the third son of Oghuz Khan. During the Seljuk Empire, Seljuk conquests of the 11th century, they moved from Central Asia into the Middle East. They are noted in history for being one of the Qizilbash tribes that helped establish the Safavid dynasty, and for being the source of descent of Afsharid dynasty. Nader Shah, who became the monarch of Iran in 1736, was from the Qereklu clan () of Afshars. The founders of the Germiyanids, and the Khalkhal Khanate were also of Afshar descent.
