''Yesenia'' is a 1971 Mexican film directed by Alfredo B. Crevenna, based on an original story by Yolanda Vargas Dulché. The film stars Jacqueline Andere as the titular character, along with Jorge Lavat. ''Yesenia'' was a blockbuster in the Soviet Union, where it sold 91.4million tickets, and became the List of highest-grossing films in the Soviet Union, highest-grossing foreign film in the Soviet Union and China. Due to this success abroad, it ranks among the world's List of highest-grossing non-English films, non-English language films with the highest attendance record. Plot Yesenia (Jacqueline Andere) had grown up among romani people, gypsies but her mother was white. ''Yesenia'' is a Mexican telenovela produced by Irene Sabido for Televisa in 1987. The protagonists of this telenovela were Adela Noriega and Luis Uribe, while Noe Murayama starred as antagonist. Plot Yesenia is a beautiful Roma woman who lives different situations in an aimlessly fixed way with the company of her caravan. In one of her many trips she meets a military man, Osvaldo Moncada, and falls in love with him. They will have to prove that their love is stronger than their differences and social prejudice that separate them.
