Yelm–Rainier–Tenino Trail
The Yelm–Rainier–Tenino Trail, formerly the Yelm–Tenino Trail, is a rail trail located in Thurston County, Washington, United States. Route The trail is a long paved path designated for use for cycling and walking. The trail runs parallel to State Route 507 and intersects with the southern end of the Chehalis Western Trail. Trailheads are located at the trail termini in Yelm and at Tenino's City Park, with additional parking lots and entry points along the trail. Rainier straddles the trail approximately east of Tenino. The trail is mainly flat, with a combined elevation change of approximately over its course. The trail is used by bicyclists participating in the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic as they ride from Yelm to Tenino. The ''Nisqually Valley News'' is a weekly newspaper based in Yelm in Thurston County, Washington. The newspaper is published weekly on Fridays with a circulation of 4,000. History The ''Nisqually Valley News'' was first published in February 1922. The editor at that time was Sam Sparks. The newspaper was originally independent and published by O.K. Press Company. Another ''News'' founder was Elmer Keller Fristoe, a traveling advertising salesman who settled in Yelm following WWI. Fristoe's son-in-law Don Miller took over the business around 1955 after Fristoe suffered a stroke. Seattle To Portland Bicycle Classic
The Seattle to Portland, or STP, is an annual one- or two-day supported bicycle ride from Seattle, Washington, to Portland, Oregon, in the United States. The STP "is considered one of the 10 biggest recreational bicycle rides in the country, drawing riders from across the nation and from other nations", and has been operating since 1979. The ride is organized by the Cascade Bicycle Club. It is approximately in length.
