Yekta Güngör Özden
Yekta Güngör Özden (born 1932) is a Turkish people, Turkish judge, and former president of the Constitutional Court of Turkey. He was born in Niksar, a town in Tokat Province, Tokat province of Turkey, in 1932. He was the president of the Constitutional Court of Turkey, from 8 May 1991 until 8 May 1995, and from 23 May 1995 until 1 January 1998, when he retired. He also was the head of "''Atatürkçü Düşünce Derneği''" (ADD), a leading Turkish non-governmental organization, that has organized Republic Protests, a peaceful mass rally of more than 300,000 people, in Ankara, on 14–15 April 2007. Recently, he was implicated in the Ergenekon (organization), Ergenekon scandal, for allegedly being a CIA . The journalist who made the accusation, Zihni Çakır, has been detained on charges of acquiring state secrets and fraudulent bankruptcy. Turkish People
Turks (), or Turkish people, are the largest Turkic peoples, Turkic ethnic group, comprising the majority of the population of Turkey and Northern Cyprus. They generally speak the various Turkish dialects. Ahmet Necdet Sezer
Ahmet Necdet Sezer (; born 13 September 1941) is a Turkish statesman and judge who served as the tenth president of Turkey from 2000 to 2007. Previously, he was president of the Constitutional Court of Turkey from January 1998 to May 2000. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey elected Sezer as president in 2000 after Süleyman Demirel's seven-year term expired. He was succeeded by Abdullah Gül in 2007. Following his legal career, Sezer became a candidate for the presidency with the joint support of many political parties in Parliament. Following the 2000 presidential election, he took an ardent secularist approach on issues such as the headscarf, holding the view that secularism in Turkey was under threat. Zihni Çakır
Zihni Çakır (born 1969, Nizip) is a Turkish journalist and author known for publishing several books on the Ergenekon organization. Background Çakır was born in 1969 in Nizip, Gaziantep Province, and graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Communication. He worked in various media as a correspondent and in managerial roles; at one point he was editor-in-chief of ''Türkeli'', a publication associated with Vatansever Kuvvetler Güç Birliği Hareketi. Books Çakır has published several books on the Ergenekon organization. In 2008 Çakır was sentenced to 18 months in prison for "violating the secrecy of an investigation" in relation to the Ergenekon trials. The Constitutional Court of Turkey ( Turkish: ''Anayasa Mahkemesi'', sometimes abbreviated as ''AYM'') is the highest legal body for constitutional review in Turkey. Ergenekon (organization)
Ergenekon () was the name given to an alleged clandestine, secular Ultranationalism, ultra-nationalist organization in Turkey with possible ties to members of the country's Turkish Armed Forces, military and Law enforcement in Turkey, security forces. The would-be group, named after Epic of Ergenekon, Ergenekon, a mythical place located in the inaccessible valleys of the Altay Mountains, was accused of terrorism in Turkey.
