The Coast Province () was one of Kenya's eight provinces prior to 2010. It covered the entire country's coastline on the Indian Ocean. Its capital city was Mombasa. It was inhabited by the Mijikenda and Swahili peoples, among others. The province covered an area of 79,686.1 km2. Tourist attraction Some of the province's important towns included Kilifi, Malindi, Watamu and Lamu in the north, and Mwandimu and Magunda in the south. Some of the coastal population was located in resort and beach settlements such as Kiongwe and Kipini. Diani Beach was one of the province's major tourist centres, with palm trees and white sandy beaches like Mombasa. Provinces Of Kenya
The provinces of Kenya were replaced by a system of counties in 2013, after the 2010 constitution was effected. History Before the new constitution of Kenya that came into force on 27 August 2010, Kenya was divided into eight provinces (see map). The provinces, excluding Nairobi Province, were subdivided into 46 districts as at 1992, which were further subdivided into 262 divisions. The divisions were subdivided into 2,427 locations and 6,612 sublocations. A province was administered by a Provincial Commissioner. This division of these provinces was a result of the devolution that came into effect after the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution. Diani Beach
Diani Beach is a beach on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya. It is located south of Mombasa, in Kwale County. Tourism The beach is about long, from the Kongo river in the north to Galu beach in the south (the southern point of reference is an old Baobab tree). Diani is a prominent tourist area of Kenya. The indigenous people of the area are the Digo, one of the nine ethnic communities of the Mijikenda. Today the area includes Kenyans of various ethnicities who have migrated to Diani, drawn by the tourism sector. The Ukunda/Diani area had a population of 70,788 inhabitants in 2015. A small airstrip - Ukunda Airport - is located between the beach area and the Mombasa-Lunga Lunga road. Mombasa County
Mombasa County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya. Its capital city is Mombasa. In terms of economy, it is second most developed after Nairobi City County. Mombasa was one of the districts of Kenya until 2013 when it was reconstituted as a county on the same boundaries. It is the smallest county in Kenya, covering an area of 229.7 km2, excluding 65 km2 of water mass. The county is situated in the southeastern part of the former Coast Province, bordering Kilifi County to the north, Kwale County to the south west and the Indian Ocean to the east. Mombasa Republic
The Mombasa Republic is a List of active separatist movements in Africa#Kenya, proposed state that would encompass the former Coast Province of Kenya. The Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) in the main separatist organization, separatist organisation to argue that Mombasa should secede from Kenya to become an independent state. They argued that secession would liberate the people of the coast province from marginalization by successive governments in Kenya. Their slogan is ''Pwani Si Kenya'' ("The Coast is not Kenya"). The Köppen climate classification divides Earth climates into five main climate groups, with each group being divided based on patterns of seasonal precipitation and temperature. The five main groups are ''A'' (tropical), ''B'' (arid), ''C'' (temperate), ''D'' (continental), and ''E'' (polar). Each group and subgroup is represented by a letter. Tropical Savanna Climate
Tropical savanna climate or tropical wet and dry climate is a tropical climate sub-type that corresponds to the Köppen climate classification categories ''Aw'' (for a dry "winter") and ''As'' (for a dry "summer"). The driest month has less than of precipitation and also less than 100-\left (\frac \right)mm of precipitation. This latter fact is in a direct contrast to a tropical monsoon climate, whose driest month sees less than of precipitation but has ''more'' than 100-\left (\frac \right) of precipitation. Watamu Marine National Park
Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve is located in Kenya. Established in 1968, it was one of Kenya's first marine parks. It is located about north of Mombasa, Kenya's second largest city. Its coral gardens are from the shore and are home to approximately 600 species of fish, 110 species of stony coral and countless invertebrates, crustaceans and molluscs. Water temperature varies from 20 degrees Celsius (June to November) to 30 degrees Celsius (December to May). The park was designated as a Nature reserve, biosphere reserve in 1979. Zheng He
Zheng He (also romanized Cheng Ho; 1371–1433/1435) was a Chinese eunuch, admiral and diplomat from the early Ming dynasty, who is often regarded as the greatest admiral in History of China, Chinese history. Born into a Muslims, Muslim family as Ma He, he later adopted the surname Zheng conferred onto him by the Yongle Emperor ().
