Yamaken-gumi
is a yakuza gang based in Kobe, Japan. It was the largest affiliate, followed by the Nagoya-based Kodo-kai, of the largest known yakuza syndicate in Japan, the Yamaguchi-gumi until 2015. From 2015 to 2020, it was under the umbrella of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi. In July 2021, the group split from the Yamaguchi-gumi, with a large number of their members opting to stay with the Yamaguchi-gumi. Before the split, the Yamaken-gumi was estimated to have between 3,000 and 7,000 members. Following the split the number dropped to around 800. Kenichi Yamamoto (yakuza)
was the founder of the Yamaken-gumi yakuza gang, who were based in Kobe, Japan. It is the largest affiliate of the Yamaguchi-gumi. Biography Yamamoto was the eldest son in his family. His father was an engineer working for Kawasaki Heavy Industries. In 1942, he graduated from Osaka Electric School, where he worked shortly in the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal before being drafted into the Japanese military Tottori Unit in January 1945. After the war ended, Yamamoto returned to Kobe. He met up with Hara Masao who was an affiliate of the Yamaguchi-gumi. He was involved in attacking Kōji Tsuruta , better known by his stage name , was a Japanese actor and singer. He appeared in almost 260 feature films and had a unique style of singing. Yamaguchi-gumi
is Japan's largest ''yakuza'' organization. It is named after its founder Harukichi Yamaguchi. Its origins can be traced back to a loose labor union for longshoreman, dockworkers in Kobe before World War II. It is one of the largest organized crime, criminal organizations in the world. Kaneyoshi Kuwata
was a yakuza gang member, the fifth generation ''wakagashira'' of the Yamaguchi-gumi, was the third ''kumicho'' of the Yamaken-gumi yakuza gang, and second generation ''kaicho'' of Kenryu-kai. He was an Osaka graduate. In 1969, Kuwata was active in the Yamaguchi-gumi. In 1989, he climbed up to Yoshinori Watanabe's personal secretary, which within a year, he was promoted up to the head assistant. Kuwata was involved in a December 1997 assassination in Tokyo. Tokyo police found a handgun which had been dropped by one of Kuwata's subordinates after a drive-by shooting. He was charged with weapons possession in 1998, and was sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Tokyo District Court. His appeal was rejected by the Tokyo High Court and then the Japanese Supreme Court in May 2003. During his time in jail, Kunio Inoue adopted his child in 2004. Yoshinori Watanabe
was a yakuza, the fifth ''kumicho'' (chairman or Godfather) of the Yamaguchi-gumi, Japan's largest yakuza organization. He became kumicho in 1989. He was known for a more low-key approach than his predecessors, partly due to an anti-gang law passed in 1992. He retired in 2005. Yakuza career Yoshinori Watanabe joined the Yamaken Gumi, a subgroup of the Yamaguchi Gumi Yakuza, after moving to Kobe. In 1960, the Yamaguchi Gumi was involved in a deadly gang war in which Yoshinori Watanabe proved himself to be violent but effective mediator in resolving disputes. His hard work and talent helped propel him upward in the ranks of the Yakuza underworld. Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi
The is a yakuza organization based in Hyogo, Japan. Overview The Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi yakuza organization includes Kobe-based Yamaken-gumi, Osaka-based Takumi-gumi, and Kyoyu-kai. They broke away from The Sixth Yamaguchi-gumi in 2015 and formed a new group called Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi.
