Yalçın Granit
Yalçın Granit (17 September 1932 – 1 November 2020) was a Turkish basketball player, coach and sports journalist. Biography He was born in Istanbul on 17 September 1932. Yalçın Granit, whose father died when he was a child, entered Darüşşafaka High School, an institution for orphans only, in the sixth grade. He played football in the school team, though he was directed to playing basketball. At the age 17, he finished high school, and was transferred by Galatasaray Basketball through its club president Ali Sami Yen. At the Galatasaray team, which was nicknamed "The invincible Armada" (), he played many years and served also as their captain. Following his graduation from Istanbul University's Faculty of Natural Sciences as a geologist, he went to France to pursue his doctoral studies. NTV is a Turkish free-to-air nationwide television news channel owned by Doğuş Media Group. It was partnered with MSNBC between May 2000 and 2014. Zincirlikuyu Cemetery
The Zincirlikuyu Cemetery () is a modern burial ground in the European part of Istanbul, Turkey. It is administered by the Metropolitan Municipality. Many prominent figures from the world of politics, business, sports and arts rest here. The cemetery is located on the Büyükdere Avenue in Zincirlikuyu, Şişli district between Esentepe and Levent neighborhoods. It is Istanbul's first cemetery established in a contemporary structure. Planned in 1935, the burial place reached in the 1950s to its boundaries of today. It has an area of , which is full, excluding family graves. A mosque within the cemetery, built and donated by the Turkish entrepreneur İbrahim Bodur, was opened to service on 2 April 2004. Şakir Eczacıbaşı (3 December 1929 – 24 January 2010), a second generation member of the notable Turkish Eczacıbaşı family, was a pharmacist, photographer and businessman. He was awarded with the Chevaliers of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France and the State Medal of Distinguished Service of Turkey.
