Xie Of Xia
Xie (Chinese language, Chinese: , ''Xiè'') was the tenth king of the semi-legendary Xia dynasty. The son of Mang of Xia, Mang, Xie ascended the throne in the "Chinese calendar, Xinwei" () year. He possibly ruled 25 years.Bamboo Annals. According to the Bamboo Annals, in the 12th year of Xie's reign, the prince of Yin (殷), Zihai (子亥), while a guest in Youyi (有易), was "guilty of licentious conduct" and killed by the leader of the place, Mianchen (綿臣), who also sent away his retinue. Four years later, Zihai’s successor, Wei (微), allied with the forces of the baron of Ho (河伯), and invaded Youyi, killing Mianchen. In the 21st year of his reign, Xie "conferred regular dignities" on the chiefs of the surrounding barbarians. He was succeeded by his sons Bu Jiang and Jiong of Xia, Jiong.Sima Qian. Xie () also appearing as Qi or Xie () was an ancient Chinese nobleman, an ancestor of the kings of the Shang dynasty. He is the first known Shang ancestor and ruler of the Predynastic Shang. King Xie Of Zhou
King Xie of Zhou (died 750 BCE), personal name Ji Yuchen, was a pretender to the throne of the Chinese Zhou dynasty, in the final years of the Western Zhou. After King You replaced the then Queen Shen with his concubine Bao Si, whilst at the same time substituting Ji Yijiu (King Ping) as crown prince with Bao Si's son Bofu, Queen Shen's father, the Marquess of Shen became irate. Along with the Zeng state and a band of Quanrong nomads he attacked the Western Zhou capital at Haojing. You was killed in the assault whereupon the Marquesses of Shen and Zeng, together with Duke Wen of Xu (), enthroned Ji Yijiu as king of Zhou and relocated the capital to Luoyi. At the same time, Ji Han (), Duke of Guo (), conspired with the Quanrong to elevate Ji Yuchen to the Zhou throne. Thus began a period when there existed two parallel Zhou kings, a stalemate brought to an end in 750 BCE when Marquis Wen of Jin killed King Xie of Zhou. Alexandra Kitchin
Alexandra "Xie" Rhoda Kitchin (29 September 1864 – 6 April 1925) was a notable 'child-friend' and favourite photographic subject of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll). She was the daughter of Rev. George William Kitchin (1827–1912), who was Dodgson's colleague at Christ Church, Oxford, and later became Dean of Winchester and Dean of Durham. His wife, Alice Maud Taylor, was the second daughter of Bridges Taylor, the British consul in Denmark at the time of the marriage. Xie's godmother was Alexandra of Denmark, then Princess of Wales, who had been a childhood friend of her mother. Xie had three younger brothers: George Herbert, Hugh Bridges, and Brook Taylor, and a younger sister, Dorothy Maud Mary. All were featured in Dodgson's photographs.
