Xemu Records is an American independent record label. History Xemu Records is an independent record label, founded in 1992 in New York City by writer, filmmaker, musician, music producer and artist Cevin Soling as a vehicle for his music and music production endeavors. Originally conceived as a "record label" nod to underground cult movements of the 1960s and 1970s the label has since grown to be a home to burgeoning young bands in the psychedelic music and independent music scenes. Xemu Records uses the trademarked motto " We're Happier Than You Are" as well as the name "Xemu" to play on the myth of "Xemu"/" Xenu". During the 1990s, Xemu Records signed a number of alternative rock acts with regional success but it was in 2002 with the compilation album When Pigs Fly (Cevin Soling album), a collection of popular songs recorded by artists unlikely to record them, that the label gained international attention. Cevin Soling
Cevin Soling is an American writer, filmmaker, philosopher, musician, music producer, and artist. Soling writes articles and books in addition to producing documentaries, animations, short films, and feature films that engage in social critique. He is president of Spectacle Films and Xemu Records. Soling produced and directed the well-received documentary '' The War on Kids'', which argues that American schools are failing to educate and that perceptions of the dangers posed by and to children have become distorted. ''The New York Times'' described the film as "a shocking chronicle of institutional dysfunction." It was honored as the best educational documentary of its year at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival, and received accolades from ''Variety'' and ''The Huffington Post'', among others. Blondie is an American Rock music, rock band formed in New York City in 1974 by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. Baby Alive
Baby Alive is a baby doll brand made by Hasbro that eats, drinks, wets and in some cases messes and has a movable mouth. It was originally made and introduced by Kenner in 1973, and reintroduced by Hasbro in 2006. History 1970s-1980s The first Baby Alive doll was introduced by Kenner in 1973. It could be fed food packets mixed with water, and came with a bottle, diapers, and feeding spoon. The spoon would be inserted into its mouth, and a lever on its back pushed to have it chew the food. The food would move through the doll and end up in her diaper as plastic waste. The doll was intentionally designed to simulate the challenges of infant care. The Morning After Girls
The Morning After Girls are an Australian neo-psychedelia, neo-psychedelic band. The group was originally formed in Melbourne, Victoria around 2003 by founding members Sacha Lucashenko (vocals and guitar) and Martin B. Sleeman (vocals and guitar), who relocated the group to New York City in 2008. Its American lineup included Alexander White (keyboards, percussion, backing vocals), EJ Hagen (bass guitar), and John Brodeur (drums). They returned to live performances in Australia in 2017. The Love Kills Theory
The Love Kills Theory is an alternative rock band based in New York City. They were formed in 2006 by Cevin Soling, and in January 2007 they released their debut album '' Happy Suicide, Jim!'', a thirteen track CD with philosophical and anti-consumerist themes. The band's original lineup consists of Bill Brandau on keyboard, Cevin Soling on vocals and guitar, Jim Minics on guitar, Darren Pilato on bass, and Jaron Stewart on drums. Founding The band was originally formed by Cevin Soling. Soling had grown up listening to The Beatles. After his last band The Neanderthal Spongecake broke up in 2001, Soling had accrued a number of songs he had written, and in 2006 he began contacting musicians he had played with or was friendly with to form a band. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is an American Rock music, rock band led and started by Anton Newcombe. It was formed in San Francisco in 1990.
